Vacations are a time to relax and disconnect—but also a time when your devices face more risks than usual. Heat, drops, humidity, theft, and heavy use can take a toll if you’re not careful.

Here are smart tips to keep your laptop, phone, or tablet safe while you’re on the go—especially in summer conditions or tropical climates.

1. Use padded cases and protective backpacks

Your devices should travel safely. Always use a hard-shell case or a backpack with padded compartments to absorb shocks, especially if flying.

2. Avoid direct sunlight exposure

Excessive heat can damage the battery, display, and internal parts. Never leave your devices on hot surfaces or inside a car. Keep them in the shade and inside their case when not in use.

3. Watch out for water and humidity

Pools, beaches, and sudden rain showers are common summer hazards. Use waterproof pouches, sealed bags, or cases when near water—even a small splash can cause damage.

4. Don’t leave devices visible

Petty theft increases during tourist seasons. Use hotel safes and avoid leaving devices visible in cars or cafés. Stay close while charging in public areas.

5. Bring the right chargers and adapters

Check the plug type at your destination and pack universal adapters. A reliable power bank can also help when you’re on the move and outlets are hard to find.
