The new iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever at just 5.6 mm, has been torn down by iFixit. What many expected to be nearly impossible to repair turned out to be a positive surprise: its internal design is clean, organized, and reasonably serviceable.
A tidy interior despite the thinness
The teardown reveals that Apple didn’t sacrifice accessibility for slimness. The titanium frame and 3D-printed USB-C port provide durability and resistance. Even under extreme stress tests, the iPhone Air holds its ground without bending easily.

Repairability that scores well
The iPhone Air earned a 7/10 repairability score from iFixit, equivalent to Apple’s European “C” rating. This puts it on par with the iPhone 16 Pro and 16e.
The battery is secured with adhesive strips that release with low-voltage current, avoiding risky glues.
The USB-C port, though attached, can still be replaced without swapping the entire motherboard.

What this means for users
For those planning to keep their iPhone for more than two or three years, this is good news. Being able to replace the battery, charging port, or even the screen without excessive complexity extends the device’s life and saves money compared to buying a new one.

At iProX, we welcome Apple’s progress on repairability—but design alone isn’t enough. What truly matters is having quality parts, skilled technicians, and reliable warranty service. If you want your iPhone Air (or any model) to last longer, our specialized repair team is here to help.
